I work with interactive sound, text, and installation in Tamil and English, through the methods of collaborative and individual improvisational performance (guitar and percussion), generative sound and projection-based installation, sonic cartography, hypertext narrative, book-object making, archival inquiry, and embedded critical theorisation in bi-lingual/aural essays.
My ongoing research and practice has been focused primarily on listening with the embodied nature of sound and sound-making in recordings and recountings, specifically in the context of queer and trans+ peoples, peoples marginalized by caste, and other peoples forced into ephemerality (José Esteban Muñoz, “Ephemera as Evidence: Introductory Notes to Queer Acts,” in “Queer Acts,” special issue, Women and Performance: A Journal of Feminist Theory 8, no. 2 (1996): 5 – 11.). I've approached this 'listening' through attempts in modelling these ephemeral sound ecologies and through (con)textualizing sound through citation, annotation, transcription, translation, and thick description.
